Madrasah plays a strategic role as an educational institution that not only transfers knowledge but also shapes the religious character of students. In the era of globalization, the rapid flow of information and external cultural influences poses serious challenges, particularly in terms of moral degradation and religious attitudes. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers as architects of religious character in madrasahs. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving PAI teachers, students, and school principals as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings indicate that PAI teachers act as role models, mentors, facilitators, and motivators in the process of internalizing religious values. The strategies applied include exemplary behavior, habituation of worship, character value cultivation, and personal guidance. Supporting factors such as Islamic school culture, institutional policies, and parental involvement strengthen the development of religious character. Nevertheless, obstacles remain, including the negative influence of digital media, unsupportive social environments, students’ lack of awareness, and the limited time and number of PAI teachers. The study concludes that the formation of religious character in madrasahs requires synergy among teachers, parents, schools, and the wider community to be effective, sustainable, and relevant to global challenges.
